At 46mm, this TW Steel is the largest watch I've ever owned. I think it pushes the limits of what my 7 inch wrist can handle but I think it looks great. This is also the first TW Steel watch I bought so I didn't really know what to expect. My first thought when I saw the box was 'very nice'. It isn't a big box but it looks well made.
The watch fit very well, with the leather strap being very thick and comfortable around my wrist. Even though this is a big watch, it is surprisingly light on the wrist. Within a short time, it felt like it had been with me for weeks as opposed to a few minutes. I want to say that the chronograph seconds hand wasn't calibrated but I adjusted that in a flash. If this problem ever occurs just extend the main crown to the 2 nd
position and adjust the chrono-seconds hand with the pusher at 2.
Chronographs sometimes need to be reset after a new battery is placed in
the watch.
The TW902 is made from black ion plated stainless steel. Even the caseback is black, which is something even though it isn't visible I like to see. That is an indication that the watch company isn't cutting corners to reduce their manufacturing costs. The notched canteen styled crown cap screws off to reveal a rather innocuous main crown. The connector from the case to the canteen crown cap fits around the pushpiece at 4, which still remains functional. The pusher at 2, which activates the chronograph is polished black ion plated stainless steel. I think that contrasts nicely with the brushed finish of the watch as a whole. The design of the case is very angular – even the lugs are very well defined.
As I mentioned before, the leather strap is extremely comfy, and it is
secured with a black ion plated stainless steel tang type buckle
engraved with the TW Steel logo and name.
The two black ion plated steel studs at the top of both straps further
enhance the look of the watch while paying homage to the logo of TW
Steel. It is my opinion that an aftermarket strap won't do the watch as much justice as the one that it comes on. I am open to suggestions for different straps but so far I haven't come across any that beat the original.
The crystal is mineral glass, featuring minimal glare. The crystal carries a vaulted edge that rises above the stationary bezel. I do think that this is a watch that you have to be careful with because the crystal isn't flush with the bezel. This can lead to nicks and scratches along the edge of the crystal. Even then, it might not be very noticeable depending on the degree of the assault.
The black dial is stamped with a Clous de Paris guilloche design.
This provides a wonderful canvas for the dark gray applied hour
markers, and matte finished subdials at the 3, 6, and 9 positions. The continuous seconds is located at the 6 position, while the chrono-minutes can be found at 9 o'clock. The register at 3 is home to a 24 hour indicator. The hour and minute hand are hued the same as the hour markers but with a red stripe through each. I thought at first that it was lume, but it is there for aesthetic value only. The chrono-seconds hand is completely red and adds extra color to this otherwise all-black exercise.
On the flange is a tachometric scale, which looks to be a pale red –
some might argue that it's pink, but for my ego's sake I'm sticking with
pale red. Finishing the dial is a date aperture at the 4:30 position.
This TW Steel TW902 is powered using a Miyota made OS20 chronograph movement.
For those not familiar with Miyota, it is a company in Japan that
specializes in making inexpensive, but good quality movements. Miyota is currently owned by Citizen. The OS20 movement features a 5 year battery life, and has an average variance of +/- 20 seconds per month.
Here is a fun fact for the OS20 movement: Miyota states that any
company using this movement craft the chrono-seconds hand from aluminum. My guess is for the weight of that particular hand to be uniform from watch to watch.
Well that's my review of the TW Steel TW902, please leave any feedback
for my review – I love feedback (except from a speaker box). Thanks and enjoy!vedere di piu
